# Accepting payments
# Payment acceptance methods
When designing your business model, you need to choose a payment acceptance method:
Single-stage payment (immediate debit from the card).
Two-stage payment (authorization of funds on the card, followed by capture).
Single-stage payment is typically used for online purchases (for example, concert tickets). Funds are debited at the moment of the payment request, with many options available (using the card for recurring debits, with or without 3-D Secure, controlling the set of fields filled in by the user, and so on). If you need to cancel a payment (with full or partial refund), it is performed as a separate request.
Two-stage payment may be used when the exact amount is not yet known at the time of purchase (for example, long-term parking, escrow transactions, or buying clothes after trying them on). After an authorization request, the specified amount is blocked on the payer's card (the operation is free, but may be automatically cancelled by the payment system after 7 or more days). After the exact amount to be charged is determined, you send a second request to complete the settlement (payment linked to the authorization), which includes the exact payment amount (the fee is charged on the specified amount). This amount cannot exceed the authorization amount. If it is less than the authorization amount, the remaining amount is automatically returned to the payer's card (crediting times depend on the bank). If the purchase did not go through, you can cancel the authorization with a separate request, and all funds are instantly returned to the payer's card (the operation is free). Two-stage payment is not available for an AFT terminal.
# Accepting payments via SBP
For the standard payment page, SBP payment acceptance is enabled through technical support; the methods used are fully identical to standard payment acceptance. See details.
During checkout, the customer will see an SBP Payment button; when clicked, a QR code for payment will open.

# Cancelling a successful payment
Payment cancellation (refund) is possible for the full payment amount or for part of the amount (partial cancellation). An unlimited number of partial cancellations of a single payment operation is allowed within the payment amount.
# Payment options
# Payment using a card token or another payment identifier
For payer convenience, you can submit payment requests using data the payer provided earlier. These may be:
A full card data token of a bank card.
An identifier of a payment made with CVV/CVC entry (the three-digit code on the back of the card) and successful 3-D Secure verification (SMS code entry). This option is not enabled by default and is activated by Mandarin after review of the corresponding client request.
In this case, the payer does not need to fill in the card number, expiration date, and name on the card again, saving time and reducing the risk of errors.
In general, only the CVV/CVC code and/or 3-D Secure verification will be required for payment. It is possible to skip even these steps and process payments entirely without payer involvement (this requires special settings on the Mandarin side).
# Payment without CVV entry
A request to create a payment using a card token may include a parameter that selects the corresponding scenario:
The payer enters the code when selecting a saved card — the so-called interactive mode (
interactive). If only the card number was tokenized, or the full card data token is in payout-only state, payment from it is possible only in interactive mode. Interactive mode can be implemented only using the embedded payment form Mandarin Custom Pay.The payer does not enter the code when selecting a saved card — payment proceeds without CVV/CVC entry.
Try to pay without CVV/CVC; if not possible — run in interactive mode (
allowinteractive). Interactive mode can be implemented only using the embedded payment form Mandarin Custom Pay.
# 3-D Secure
3-D Secure adds an additional authentication step for online payments (SMS code entry), helping ensure that the payment is made by the cardholder.
Whether 3D-Secure code entry is mandatory or optional is configured when the terminal is set up at the bank. Mandarin managers can set up two terminals for you (with 3D-Secure enabled and disabled).
Not requiring SMS code entry increases conversion. However, such payments are more vulnerable to chargebacks.
# Payment without payer involvement
Payment without payer involvement can be implemented in the following ways:
Recurring payment (automatic debit) using a full card data token (except when only the card number was tokenized or the token is in
payout-onlystatus).A payment that references another payment and will be processed without CVV/CVC entry and without 3-D Secure.
Funds will be debited on your request; the issuing bank may decline the operation due to insufficient funds or for other reasons (for example, the issuing bank prohibiting such debits for the given card).
If previous recurring payments failed, after exceeding the limit of consecutive unsuccessful debits, according to payment system requirements, further attempts may be blocked:
Visa — up to 4 consecutive unsuccessful attempts; if exceeded — block for 16 days.
MasterCard — up to 3 consecutive unsuccessful attempts; if exceeded — block for 30 days.
MIR — up to 2 consecutive unsuccessful attempts; if exceeded — block for 14 days.
One successful operation on the card immediately resets the unsuccessful debit counter.
Please note that some payment systems (for example, Maestro) do not support recurring payments.
# Payer commission
By default, the commission amount is included in the payment amount and is paid by the customer. For example, with a 3% commission rate, 1000 rubles will be debited from the payer's card, and 970 rubles will be credited to your account.
Mandarin can configure settings where the commission is passed to the payer in the following ways:
Virtual (by increasing the payment amount by the commission size, while you remain the commission payer in fact). For example, if 1000 rubles should be credited to your account, the payer will be shown 1030 rubles to pay (without itemization).
Actual (the payer commission is debited directly in favor of Mandarin, which must be stated in your payment terms). Two variants of Mandarin commission calculation apply:
Mandarin automatically increases the debit amount by the commission amount. In this case, you must pass 1000 rubles to Mandarin.
You increase the total amount by the commission yourself and pass the final amount of 1030 rubles to Mandarin.
In both cases, the payer is shown the total amount of 1030 rubles with itemization where 30 rubles are explicitly listed as a separate line. At the end of the reporting period, 1000 rubles will be credited to your company's account.
# Instant crediting from payment acceptance 24/7/365
Instant crediting can be useful if you use card payouts together with payment acceptance.
Funds received from payment acceptance are credited instantly to your card payout account. You do not need to wait for crediting of funds from payment acceptance and then transfer them to the bulk payout account, which takes time and creates downtime risk on weekends and holidays.
With instant crediting, you increase your capital turnover at no extra cost.
# Ready-made payment acceptance module
If you need to accept payments on your website but API integration is not ready yet or you do not plan to implement it, you can use a ready-made module.
You can configure the module design yourself in the Modules (opens new window) section of the personal account. You configure the logo, background color (or background image), title text and color, button text and color, and payment currency.
# User interface
After integration, you can offer the following user interface options for payment acceptance:
Mandarin payment page with your logo, to which you redirect the payer for checkout.
Embedded payment form using Mandarin Custom Pay technology, which enables full integration into your interface (without requiring PCI DSS certification on your side). Custom Pay provides card data input fields hosted on Mandarin servers and displayed as iframes on your site. This lets you build your own checkout page with a fully custom design. Within the embedded form, cardholder name and CVV/CVC entry can be disabled (by agreement and after settings on the Mandarin side).
